How your commute shapes a Camry lease

A lease brings a new Toyota every few years, with lower monthly payments and warranty coverage throughout the lease term. A lease suits someone who makes the same drive to work every week.

On a long commute, mpg matters. Every Camry trim is a hybrid, rated up to an EPA-estimated 51 combined mpg on the 2026 LE.

The two main choices on a lease are the miles it allows each year and the trim.

Three ways to start with us

Shop the inventory

Our online inventory lists each new Camry with its trim and color, so you can compare trims from home.

Get pre-approved

You can apply for pre-approval online, wherever you live. One of our finance experts then goes over the details with you.

Value your trade

You can get an estimate for your trade-in online. We apply its value to the upfront payment.

How leasing a Camry works at Dalton Toyota

Step 1 The trim

All five trims share one hybrid powertrain and differ in wheels, seats and screen.

Step 2 Your yearly miles

We add up your commute, errands and longer trips to set the yearly mileage allowance.

Step 3 Lease or buy

Our finance team explains the benefits of each, so you can choose what fits your budget and your driving.

Step 4 ToyotaCare on the lease

Every new Toyota comes with ToyotaCare, bought or leased, so scheduled maintenance is covered from the first month.

Leasing or buying the same Camry, side by side

You can start the application online. Before your visit, our finance team walks you through both ways to drive the Camry home.

  • Leasing and buying compared on the same Camry
  • A hybrid powertrain on every Camry trim
  • ToyotaCare on every new Camry, leased or bought

What San Diego commuters ask before leasing a Camry

Six questions we hear most at our showroom

How many miles a year should a Camry lease allow?

Enough to cover the miles you actually drive in a year.

  • Your daily commute, there and back, times your working days.
  • Errands such as school runs, groceries, the gym and the airport.
  • Longer trips out of the county each year.

Toyota Financial Services sends the final invoice 60 to 120 days after the return, and it details any excess mileage alongside excess wear and use.

A commute from Chula Vista to Kearny Mesa adds far more miles than a job in National City. We set the allowance on your real number.

Which Camry trim would you live with?

From the LE to the XSE, the wheels, seats, screen and suspension change.

You feel the difference in the first mile, so we suggest driving two trims back to back on one visit. Our showroom on National City Blvd is open until 8pm Monday to Saturday and until 6pm on Sunday.

Toyota Buyer's Guide in National City

1. The Camry hybrid on a San Diego commute

Around National City, much of the driving is on busy freeways like the 805. A hybrid is built for that stop-and-go traffic.

Every Camry trim has that hybrid powertrain. Dual zone automatic climate control with rear-seat vents comes on the LE, and Blind Spot Monitor is standard.

A Qi-compatible wireless charging pad comes too.

Traffic Jam Assist is designed to help in stop-and-go traffic on controlled-access freeways like the 805. It needs an active Drive Connect trial or subscription.

Phones stay charged on the way to work, on the wireless pad or in one of up to five USB ports.

  • SE: a black sport mesh front grille with racing-inspired air curtains and front side canards.
  • XLE: available multi-stage ventilated front seats.
  • XLE and XSE: an available Panoramic View Monitor.

3. How Camry all-wheel drive works

All-wheel drive on the Camry works on demand. When the road is slippery or the tires lose grip, it sends torque to the rear wheels. With it, the Camry makes up to 232 net combined horsepower.

In San Diego, the main reason to choose all-wheel drive is snow on the mountain roads east of the county in winter. For a commute on the 805 and the 5, front-wheel drive is enough.

You keep the same drivetrain for the whole lease, so we settle it right after the trim.

4. Choosing the mileage allowance on a Camry lease

You can work out your mileage before you visit: your one-way commute from a map, doubled, times your working days.

That commute is the steady base of a year of driving. Three more things add to it.

  • Errands: the short drives around National City that add up over a year.
  • Weekend trips: out to the desert or the mountains, and drives north.
  • Other drivers: if a partner or a teenager also drives the Camry, their miles count too.

State law and your lease agreement set your rights and obligations on extra miles and on excess wear and use. Toyota Financial Services sends the final invoice 60 to 120 days after the return, and any extra miles show on it.

We set the allowance on your real number at signing. If a new job farther away is coming, we count those miles in too.

5. Leasing or financing a Camry through our finance team

We have financed customers from Bonita to Kearny Mesa. Once you choose your Camry, one of our experts explains the next steps.

  • Lenders: a network of trusted lenders, with competitive rates direct from the manufacturer and local California banks.
  • Credit: perfect or not so great, we can build a financing package around it.
  • Approvals: quick, with finance managers who work with customers from National City, Chula Vista and Imperial Beach.
  • Payment calculator: an idea of the monthly payment before you apply.
  • Protection: extended warranty programs and other financial services.

6. Turning in a leased Camry: the inspection

60 days

The window for a courtesy pre-inspection before the return.

The recommended step before turn-in.

What the turn-in inspection looks at

  1. 01

    Body and wheels

A scratch through the paint or a dent larger than a credit card, and wheel gouges of the same size.

  2. 02

    Glass and lights

Windshield cracks, stars or bull's-eyes, and broken or missing lights, signals and mirrors.

  3. 03

    Interior

A cut, tear, burn or stain larger than a credit card, or an accumulation of them.

  4. 04

    Equipment

Missing parts or accessories, and modifications not on the Camry at signing.

Damage beyond normal wear and use counts as excessive. The courtesy pre-inspection finds that kind of damage early, while there is still time to fix it.

The dealer that wrote the lease processes the return, so a Camry leased with us comes back to us at 2400 National City Blvd. Buying the Camry instead starts with a payoff quote from your TFS online account. Our finance team can arrange the financing.

The final 90 days of a lease are the time to decide. Once the Camry is back, you can report the return to TFS online or in its app, so it processes quickly.
